Government attacked for taking BFA cash
to cover their team's amazing World Cup run will return to Government.
That was the claim yesterday of Shadow Minister for Youth, Sport and Recreation, Mr. Dennis Lister.
He said almost 50 percent of the Bermuda Football Association's Telethon cash would cover Government charges.
These included use of the National Stadium, Warwick Camp, Police, and various facilities, such as toilets.
"As if these charges from our own Government were not enough ... part of the national squad's travel expenses includes the amount to be paid to Government for departure tax each time the team travels abroad,'' said Mr.
Lister.
He called on Government to waive the charges on the BFA to allow public funds to be channelled into Bermuda's World Cup cause.
