The plea comes as BEFAB marks a special milestone -- it has spayed or neutered 300 stray cats since being formed last August.

BEFAB now wants people to return cat traps it has loaned to them.

It is also appealing for those handed out by the SPCA, or pest control companies.

And people with private traps they no longer need are urged to donate them.

To hand them in people should contact Government veterinarian, Dr. Neil Burnie at the Department of Agriculture on 236-4201. Dr. Burnie said the department had storage space for traps.

He added: "All the returned traps will be inventoried and relabelled.'' BEFAB has expanded impressively since being formed and registered as a charity. Treasurer Mrs. Fern Cullimore said the group was delighted to have reached the 300 figure.

Feral cats were spayed or neutered and returned to their colonies.

Mrs. Cullimore said a major problem was the abandoning of cats by owners leaving Bermuda, or moving to another part of the Island.

Mrs. Cullimore said homes were generally found for kittens.
