And the hotel will also use Sunday's event to begin its 1996 recruitment drive.

The fair idea was conceived in March when the hotel's executive committee met to discuss the hiring procedures at the hotel and challenges it faced when attempting to fill certain positions.

Marriott's human resource director Ms Zehena Davis said managers and union shop stewards agreed that the hotel should develop a more creative means of recruiting Bermudians for various positions in the hotel.

Those who attend the job fair will receive a first-hand view of the career opportunities available in the hotel industry, Ms Davis said.

And they will be able to speak with staff about their jobs and career progression. They will also be able to learn about resume preparation and interviewing skills, and participate in mock interviews and receive immediate feedback.

The job fair is scheduled to run from noon until 7 p.m.

POLICE INVESTIGATE SPATE OF BREAK-INS CRM Police investigate spate of break-ins Police are investigating a number of break-ins at the Cedar Parkade on Washington Street South in Hamilton which have taken place over the last few days.

A pane of glass at Mary's Fashions was smashed on Monday night and a small quantity of cash was stolen.

Police said similar reports were also filed by Action World Travel, More than Herbs, and a deli in the Cedar Parkade on Tuesday night.

BASES FEATURED ON NEW STAMPS UPS Bases featured on new stamps Bermuda's former military Bases will be highlighted on the latest set of stamps being released by the General Post Office next week.

Ordnance Island Submarine Base, the Royal Naval Dockyard, Fort Bell and Kindley Field, Darrell's Island, the US Navy Operating Base and the Canadian Forces Station at Daniel's Head will be featured on the stamps.

The stamps will be in values of $1 and 20, 25, 60, 75, and 90 cents.

The stamps, designed by Mr. Ross Watton, will be officially released on Monday. The first day cover will cost $5.

GIRLS ARRESTED FOR SHOPLIFTING CRM Girls arrested for shoplifting Three girls, aged 12, 13 and 14, were yesterday arrested on suspicion of shoplifting from the Phoenix store on Reid Street.

Police said that after the girls left the store a member of the staff examined a bag which they were carrying and discovered two Kodak cameras and some film.

Police were called and the girls were detained and later released into the custody of their parents.

Police yesterday urged parents to speak to their children about the seriousness of stealing from shops.

POLICE ON TRIAL OF STOLEN CYCLE CRM Police on trail of stolen cycle Police yesterday arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of stealing a cycle.

Officers spotted the stolen cycle being ridden on Middle Road near Barnes Corner in Southampton, a Police spokesman said.

The officers gave chase and the rider was arrested. He will appear in court in due course.
