Barbara O'Shaughnessy, one of the organisers of this years event, gave members of the Hamilton Rotary Club a synopsis of each of the activities earlier this week.

A raft-up at the Flagpole on Front Street and the annual Hotelympics were the highlights slated for last night. The hotelympics began at 6.30 p.m. and saw teams competing to be the fastest in wine pouring, cake making, bell hopping and bed making.

Today winners of the essay contest will be displayed and announced at City Hall. Tomorrow night the festivities travel east to St. George's for another Fun Night. Swizzle sampling will take place there.

The week will culminate with the Hotelier of the Year banquet where this award as well as the Bermuda Sunshine Award and Hospitality Person of the Year Award will be presented.

Mrs. O'Shaughnessy also touched on upcoming work the Visitor Industry Partnership group have planned.

"In, 1999 VIP will conduct a survey of Bermudian attitudes towards tourism,'' she said. "After this benchmark survey we will conduct one every three years to make sure that we are on the right track.
