Impaired driver banned

Danny Charles Gilbert, 58, of Gatehouse Park, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving with more than twice the legal limit of alcohol.

Crown counsel Veronica Daley told the court that at 2.35 p.m. December 2, last year, Police saw Gilbert, riding a motorcycle, disobey a clearly marked stop sign on South Road, Southampton.

Gilbert was stopped and when asked if he had been drinking, he replied: "I had three beers.'' Gilbert was taken to Hamilton Police Station where he took a breath analysis.

The analysis revealed that Gilbert had 184 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.
