relatives in Jamaica, was ordered to forfeit the money in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said Customs officers working in the freight shed at the Airport on October 27, 1993 opened a large parcel containing foodstuffs addressed to Jamaica.

Among the supplies were two packages of rice, and between them, the officers discovered $13,300 cash in US funds.

The package was traced to Donnie Jay Hill of Jones Village Lane, and he was questioned by Police and admitted the crime.

Hill told the Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons the money was going to Jamaica to benefit his family and two daughters for the lease of their apartment.

Ms Simmons fined Hill $500 and ordered him to forfeit the $13,300 in US funds to the court.

A visiting couple told Police that two men on a cycle rode up alongside them at about 5 p.m. on Sunday and removed a small handbag, containing a purse, a Pentax camera and prescription glasses from their rear basket.

TEEN PLANNED TO SELL CANNABIS CTS Teen planned to sell cannabis A social inquiry report was ordered in Magistrates' Court yesterday for an 18-year-old who admitted possessing cannabis with a street value of $350.

Abenego Trott, of St. Augustine Hill, Pembroke, pleaded guilty to possession of cannabis with intent to supply.

Trott was seen running on St. Augustine Hill by undercover narcotics officers who stopped him and noticed he dropped a plastic bag to the side, prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said.

The officers found the bag which contained 14 envelopes of cannabis amounting to 4.41 grams. It was later discovered that Trott was planning to sell them at a street value of $25 per bag.

Trott told the court that he is unemployed and lives at home with his eight brothers and sisters, supported by his mother.

The Wor. Charles-Etta Simmons said: "You are only 18 years old, is this going to be a way of life? What about your siblings? If they see you doing this type of thing, they will surely copy you.'' Walter J. Hayward of Devil's Hole pleaded guilty to the charge.

Prosecuting Sgt. Kenrick James told the court that on February 4 at 10.15 p.m., Police on mobile patrol along Kindley Field Road in St. George's noticed that Hayward, who was riding a motorcycle, was swerving along the road.

The officers arrested him and took him to St. George's Police Station.

Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl-Ann Mapp also disqualified him from all vehicles for 12 months.

DRIVERS URGED T US INDICATORS POL Drivers urged to use indicators Police have issued a reminder to motorists to use indicator signals.

A Police officer, who regularly directs traffic at the junction of Montpelier and Middle Road during rush hour, said some drivers do not indicate when they intend to make a turn.

He requested that drivers be encouraged to indicate their intentions in plenty of time which will enable him to more effectively control the junction.

Giving the correct signals in plenty of time also enabled other road users to react without being taken by surprise by sudden manoeuvres.
