23 submissions from interested parties, it emerged yesterday.

Assistant Cabinet secretary James Smith said that the committee will continue to meet.

"We have a meeting planned for next Monday,'' he explained. "So far we have received quite a bit of input from the submissions and from the presentations.

"After all of that we will look at the issues and try to thrash out what recomendations we are going to make. That will take quite a while.'' Mr. Smith said that the committee hoped to have a report prepared by the end of the year.

The sport of jet-skiing came under the spotlight last month with issues of safety and proper usage on the water uppermost in mind.

A special Cabinet Committee was formed and canvassed the public for its views.

After its formation Tourism Minister David Dodwell said: "While it is anticipated that the report will take a comprehensive look at the subject, strong emphasis will be placed on safety issues from a commercial standpoint relating to the use of jet skis and on educating users, locals and tourists alike on appropriate safety measures to be adopted while operating such watercraft.'' The committee is chaired by Mr. Dodwell and includes Environment Minister Irving Pearman, Transport Minister Wayne Furbert and Youth and Sport Minister Tim Smith, as well as representatives from the sport, Marine Police and the Water Safety Council.
