pleaded guilty to the offence yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Christina Schepke, 26, of Berry Hill Road, Paget and Geoffrey Redmond, 24, of Gilbert Hill, Smith's Parish were both charged with removal of a golf cart.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor said staff at Ariel Sands cottage colony in Devonshire left the golf cart, with the keys, parked next to the resort at 10.30 p.m.

Schepke, who was also charged with having no third party insurance and driving an unlicensed cart, and Redmond were attending a party at Ariel Sands and removed the golf cart after failing to get a taxi into the city shortly before midnight.

Schepke drove the cart along South Road then on to Front Street where they were seen by bystanders who called the Police.

The two were spotted by Police in a Front Street nightclub and taken to Hamilton Police Station where they admitted the theft.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Schepke to pay a $500 fine for having no third party insurance and $200 for driving an unlicensed vehicle. He fined both Schepke and Redmond $200 each for removing the cart.
