this weekend with the biggest-ever volunteer clean-up of the Island in the four-year history of the event.

And Jennifer Masefield, wife of Governor Thorold Masefield and honorary chairman of KBB, will help the day get off to a flying start.

She will join volunteers in a 20-location Operation Cleansweep aimed at litterbugs.

KBB administrator Vanese Flood said last year's clean-up attracted 200 people covering nine sites -- but this year's event was set to surpass that.

She added: "Many new groups have joined our efforts this year, using the clean-up day as both a learning and bonding experience.'' Among the new faces attending the three-hour trashathon will be The Family Learning Centre, Windreach Riding for the Disabled, Duke of Edinburgh Awards scheme and the Harrington Sound Workman's Club.

The event takes place on the same day as similar events in 90 other countries.
