Research scientist Sheila McKenna will be delivering a lecture tomorrow evening on "Bermuda's Unique Reefs.'' With 10 percent of the world's reef ecosystem seriously damaged by human activity and the rest of it under threat, Bermuda remains a last bastion of relatively healthy coral reef formations.

Dr. McKenna -- who has been monitoring the Island's coral reef health for a number of years -- is a contributing scientist to Reef Check, a global data base compiled from condition reports by thousands of divers from around the world. Home to the world's most northerly coral, Bermuda's reefs are somewhat protected by their mid-Atlantic isolation said Dr. McKenna, and their protection is of the utmost importance. There will be a $5 admission charge for tomorrow night's lecture, which begins at 7.30 p.m.
