Little Dolphin's Adventure

the surface of the water to breathe. It was a beautiful sight for other dolphins to see... One more of their kind being born to lead the pod when it grows up.

In the morning the baby was gone. Everyone looked for him. They found him in the shallow water playing with humans! His mother swam swiftly to him.

"Come on!'' screamed mother. "You are in great danger now!'' "But Mom, we had fun!'' said baby.

"No buts about it, they can hurt you,'' said his mom. "We are going home now!'' "But Mom...'' "Come!'' said mother.

She named him Little Dolphin. He was always into mischief. Whenever she turned her back, he was gone. His nanny said, "We have to nail that boy's fluke to the ocean floor!'' "Oh, nanny!'' exclaimed mother.

"I mean it!'' said nanny.

Little Dolphin swam near fishing boats. A line was loose overboard. It cut Little Dolphin's fluke. Some marine biologists helped Little Dolphin with his cut. When he got home he told his mother all about it.

"It was great, but it hurt!'' exclaimed Little Dolphin.

Mother said, "Don't go near them again.'' "But it was fun!'' complained Little Dolphin.

"Go to sleep you two,'' said nanny, "it's a long day tomorrow.'' The next morning, Little Dolphin was gone again! This time he was really in trouble. He got caught in a fishing net. They took him to an animal hospital.

Little Dolphin got sick. He had a cold and he felt ill. Little Dolphin was going to die. The veterinarian gave him some medicine. Then he didn't have his cold anymore. They returned him back to the ocean where he lives. He found his mother and he was safe. He told them all about it.

"Maybe humans aren't so bad after all,'' said mom.

"Don't get your hopes up,'' said nanny.

"Oh, nanny,'' said mother. "`You are always worrying me about Little Dolphin.'' When Little Dolphin was a grown-up, he led the pod through the waters where they live. Little Dolphin, his mother, and nanny lived happily ever after.
