Lobbyist Mr. Ken Levine monitors Congress activity in areas like tax, trade and immigration, Premier the Hon. Sir John Swan told MPs.

The announcement came after questions from Independent MP Mr. Stuart Hayward.

Sir John told the House of Assembly the job was not advertised. But Mr.

Levine, a member of a US law firm, was selected after long consultation, he said.

Sir John did not know if Mr. Levine represented other countries in Washington.

Asked by Mr. Hayward if the lobbyist was properly registered under US law, he replied he was quite sure Mr. Levine's firm had complied with legal requirements.
