The 31-year-old Southampton man is alleged to have defrauded the woman of a month's rent and breakage deposit after promising her first refusal on an apartment in August.

But the man is said to have broken several appointments to close the deal, and the woman contacted Police.

The man was arrested on Thursday afternoon. Police inquiries are continuing.
