Man charged with attempted murder

William Gayle Samuel Gumbs, of the Canadian Hotel, was accused in Magistrates' Court of attempting to murder, and unlawfully wounding Robert Wakefield Coleman Thomas on Wednesday on Court Street.
Gumbs, who was not represented, was not required to enter a plea.
Crown Council Mr. Brian Calhoun objected to bail.
Gumbs was remanded into custody and will re-appear in court on August 2.
A King Edward VII Mmeoiral Hospital spokesman said Thomas was last night in stable condition on a general ward.
