accident left him crushed beneath the rollervator of a tractor.

Mr. Tage Bruun, of Luke's Farm, Southampton, was out in his yard trying to get the tractor running when the accident occurred, his wife Mrs. Patsy Bruun told The Royal Gazette .

"He went to put the tractor in gear and must have put it in the wrong gear because it rolled ahead,'' said Mrs. Bruun.

Mrs. Bruun said she heard her neighbour scream and when she looked out she saw her husband had fallen off the tractor and the rollervator attached to the tractor had rolled on top of him.

"All I could see was his head sticking out,'' Mrs. Bruun recalled.

While the neighbour called 911 for an ambulance Mr. Bruun managed to "get out somehow'', although "his leg was cut wide open and he was in a great deal of pain''.

Mrs. Bruun said the ambulance arrived six minutes after the neighbour called 911 and took her husband to King Edward VII Memorial Hospital with a broken shoulder, crushed ribs, internal bleeding and collapsed lungs.

Mrs. Bruun said she believed her husband would have died if the ambulance had not come so quickly because the paramedics had to give her husband oxygen during the journey to the hospital.

Yesterday, a hospital spokeswoman said Mr. Bruun remained in critical condition in the Intensive Care Unit.
