accused of several incidents of breaking and entering and theft plus a string of unrelated traffic offences.

Swayne Eulette Gibbons, 33, of Harlem Heights Road, Hamilton Parish, was also sent to jail for about four and a half months for unpaid fines.

Gibbons was charged with stealing ten 32 ounce bottles of honey worth $40 from Franz Ignoff, on January 5, to which he pleaded not guilty.

On March 9, Gibbons was charged with prowling around the grounds of James and Odessa Thigbone as well as stealing $7 in quarters.

He was also accused of being in possession of a house breaking implement, namely a 13 inch fork, on the same night. Gibbons pleaded not guilty to both charges.

On March 28, Gibbons was charged with breaking and entering Zuill's Workshop with the intent to steal and breaking and entering that premises and stealing a pair of Sony car speakers. He pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Gibbons also faced a pair of unpaid fines.

These include speeding at 81 kilometres per hour on August 3, 1998, for which he was convicted, disqualified for a year, and fined $500 .

The fine is unpaid as is a $200 fine from a court appearance on October 8, 1998.

Magistrate Edward King told Gibbons that he would have to serve four months default for the first unpaid fine and 15 days for the second fine. The sentences will run consecutively.

Gibbons was further charged with three traffic offences for which he failed to appear in court to answer for on October 8, 1999.

These were failing to stop for Police, driving without due care and not having a driver's license on July 20 at Cottage Hill, Hamilton Parish. He pleaded not guilty to all the charges.

Duty counsel Kim Wilson asked for bail as Gibbons could provide a surety but Mr. King said bail was at the discretion of the Magistrate and that the court had a right to protect the public.

Mr. King then remanded Gibbons in custody until July 19.
