escaping lawful custody and assaulting a Police officer. Jarrel Davis, 36, of Waterville Apartments on Middle Road, was at home on August 19 when Police arrived in response to a complaint of an annoying person.

Police arrived at 12.20 a.m. and saw Davis, the alleged annoying person, outside his apartment.

One of the officers recognised Davis as having outstanding warrants and questioned him but he made no reply.

He was told he was going to be arrested but he pulled his arm from Police as they tried to handcuff him, pushed an officer to the side, and ran into the bushes. Police searched the area in vain and returned on October 6 with a warrant, arrested Davis and took him to Somerset Police Station.

Davis is currently incarcerated until early January at the Westgate Prison for other matters and was sentenced to three months for escaping custody, and 28 days for assaulting an officer, to run concurrently.

Acting Senior Magistrate, Edward King also asked Davis about three traffic offences for which he had not shown up to court.

He was given a ticket for speeding at 76 kph on January 8, a ticket for speeding at 58 km on July 13, and a ticket for speeding at 59 km on August 29.

He was given time to pay the total fine of $835 or serve additional time in prison.
