Shane Todd, 21, of Pembroke Park Lane, pleaded guilty to driving in a manner dangerous, driving without a licence, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to stop for Police on August 23.

A separate charge of cycle theft was dropped.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court that around midnight on August 23 Police officers on mobile patrol saw Todd, who they suspected of stealing the cycle he was riding, travelling west along Elliot Street.

Soon after, they saw Todd riding south along Union Street. The officers then activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to pull Todd over.

But he ignored the warnings and led the officers on a high-speed chase through the back of town.

Sgt. Mouchette added that during the chase Todd disobeyed two stop signs, travelled against the flow of traffic and rode in the wrong lane.

The chase ended when Todd collided with a Subaru car on Court Street. He then ran off and made good his escape.

Todd was arrested around 4.35 p.m. the following day after Police received a tip that he was at a home in Sandys Parish.

Magistrate Arthur Hodgson yesterday ordered Todd to pay $700 for dangerous driving and $100 each for driving without a licence, failing to stop after an accident, and failing to stop for Police.

RAY ORDERED TO RETURN TO COURT CTS Ray ordered to return to court A St. David's man accused of importing and possessing more than $100,000 worth of cannabis yesterday appeared in Magistrates' Court for mention.

David Anthony Ray, 30, of Texas Road, has been charged with importing cannabis, possessing cannabis with intent to supply, importing cannabis resin and possessing cannabis resin with intent to supply.

The offences took place at the airport on August 11 and involved a total of 1,838 grams of cannabis and 262 grams of resin with a street value of $105,000.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis extended bail of $20,000 and ordered Ray to return to court on January 21 for mention.

CANNABIS FOUND IN BOOK SHELF CTS Cannabis found in book shelf Possessing cannabis and drug equipment cost a Pembroke man $350 yesterday in Magistrates' Court.

Kevin Michael Smith, 33, of Seagull Lane, pleaded guilty to possessing cigarette papers and 1.80 grams of cannabis on November 23 last year.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court that around 6.30 a.m.

Police narcotics officers entered Smith's home armed with a search warrant.

With the help of a drug-sniffing dog, the officers found packet of Rizzla papers in between some cushions and a cannabis twist hidden in a book shelf.

Smith was arrested and taken to the Hamilton Police Station where he admitted to the offences.

Senior Magistrate Will Francis ordered Smith to pay $250 for possessing the cannabis and $100 for possessing the papers.
