"Was this your Christmas present for him?'' Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp asked Kimo Outerbridge, of Middletown Drive.

The victim, Jesus Pacheco, accepted a ride with Outerbridge and another man, Joseph Lima, who was dealt with in an earlier hearing.

They had just left a party and had been drinking heavily aboard the Cable and Wireless ship Sir Eric Sharp , prosecutor Insp. Peter Duffy said.

Traveling from Dockyard in a truck, Lima pulled to the side of the road and demanded that Pacheco give him his 18-karat gold chain. When Pacheco did not, Lima held him down while Outerbridge removed the chain.

The chain was never recovered and Outerbridge confirmed his accomplice traded it for cocaine in Middletown.

Outerbridge was fined $400.

Lima was tried last December and convicted for stealing the chain, taking the truck and driving while impaired.

He was sentenced to six months in prison and was disqualified from driving for the next three years. He was also ordered to pay $900 in fines.
