during a drunken rage.

Gerald V. Smith, of Horseshoe Road, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to possessing an offensive weapon in a public place and wounding another man.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Kenrick James said Smith attended a party in Warwick on December 26 of last year.

The complainant was also at the party and both were drinking, Sgt. James said.

A fight began at the party and carried on outside. When the victim tried to leave in a friend's car, Smith ran alongside, telling the driver to stop. When the car stopped the man stuck his head out of the door.

Smith hit the man in the head at least six times with a metal object, causing two wounds which required four stitches each.

Magistrate the Wor. Edward King fined Smith $500 for wounding and $300 for possessing an offensive weapon.
