theft charges after he tried to walk out of a grocery store with a bag worth $21.99.

Andre George Smith of Fairhaven Lane was observed removing a price tag from a hold-all bag at the Heron Bay MarketPlace on September 29. He then dropped the price tag on the floor and slung the bag over his shoulder.

At the check-out counter, Smith paid for other items, but not the bag. He was approached by MarketPlace staff and Police were called.

Smith told the court: "I intended to pay for it but since they did not charge me, I just kept moving.'' He was fined $50.
