Magistrate Edward King fined Wayne Albert Hanley $250 for possessing cocaine and $1,000 for being in an Increased Penalty Zone -- a hospital.

Mr. King had heard that Hanley had requested to smoke while a patient on Gordon Ward and when that request was denied he handed over two "rock like substances'' to a nurse.

When confronted by Police Hanley said "yes, its mine, its crack'' but he was not taken to Hamilton Police Station but left at the hospital.

The Government analyst later found the substances to be ".19 grams of 75 percent pure cocaine in its freebase form colloquially known as crack'' Ms Clarke explained.
