The court heard Shayne Dwayne Dillas, 32, took and drove away a private car which was owned by Jose DeCosta without his lawful authority.

Crown Counsel Veronica Daley told Senior Magistrate William Francis that the owner of the car reported the matter to the Police after he heard overseas that his car was on the road in Bermuda.

On Tuesday, April 18, Police saw the car which was removed from North Shore, Hamilton travelling on York Street, St. George's and arrested Dillas.

He told Mr. Francis he was on his way to answer bail at St. George's Police Station and was unaware the car was unlicensed.

Dillas who pleaded guilty to driving an unlicensed car, no driving licence, and no insurance was fined $900, $150, and $500 respectively for the offences.

He was also fined $200 for the unlawful removal of a motor car.
