Police spokesperson Evelyn James Barnett said the 23-year-old victim from Devonshire told Police he was speaking with friends outside of the nightclub just after midnight on Tuesday when he saw another friend in an altercation with one of the club's bouncers.

When he went to investigate he was struck on the ring finger of his right hand,'' Mrs. James Barnett said, adding his finger had been partially amputated.

The man received stitches to the finger at King Edward VII Memorial Hospital.
