dangerous driving has pleaded guilty to a lesser charge.

Darnel Devon Kevin Pinkney of Beacon Hill Road was due to stand trial in the Supreme Court this week, but after both Crown Counsel Mr. Peter DeJulio and defence lawyer Mr. Archie Warner discussed the matter they agreed Pinkney should plead guilty to dangerous driving and be sentenced.

Mr. DeJulio stated that the Crown was unable to prove beyond reasonable doubt that Pinkney did cause the death of Zalita Hunt and Kioshi Edwards.

Mr. Warner ordered a social inquiry report on Pinkney as "there was a social background between the deceased and his client.'' He also asked that bail be extended until the reading of the report on October 2. However, Chief Justice the Hon. Justice Ward denied the request and said "others need to be aware that you can not drive dangerously on Bermuda's roads.'' On April 20 last year, 18-year-old Hunt and Edwards, 19, were thrown from their cycle while driving along Somerset Road.
