Macdonald Dudley Desilva pleaded guilty in August to possessing the cannabis and 1,021 manila envelopes, 33 plastic zip-lock bags, one thermos, one black vial, and one Coleman cooler.

Magistrate Edward King last week sentenced Desilva, 25, to four years for possession and six months for having the drug equipment. The sentences are to run concurrently.

Mr. King heard that Police narcotics officers executed a search warrant on January 12 at Desilva's North Shore Road, Hamilton Parish home.

Police found cannabis resin and 33 bulky pay type envelopes containing 12.5 grams of cannabis in a deep freeze.

Crown counsel Caitlin Garland said Desilva told Police: "Those bags are mine.

I put them in the freezer when you came in the door.'' He was cautioned again but told officers: "Every dog has his day. I guess today is mine.'' Desilva also told Police they did not have to look further as he had sold some of the drugs already. He took officers into his bedroom where he pulled $175 from a night stand -- and claimed that was all he had.

Some $3,000 found in the night stand was from the proceeds of the sale of a motorcycle, he said.

Ms Garland said the search continued and 1,021 unused manila pay type envelopes and 33 zip-lock bags were also found.

Desilva told Police $23,900 found inside a large loudspeaker was "his hard earned money''.

A drug-sniffing dog also alerted Police to a Coleman cooler containing brown paper envelopes containing 94.2 grams of cannabis.
