A 26-year-old Hamilton Parish man who attacked two Police officers while they were questioning him was sentenced to 120 hours of community service in Magistrates' Court yesterday.

Troy O. Robinson of Claytown, pleaded guilty to possessing an offensive weapon namely a hammer, assaulting two officers, and wilfully and unlawfully damaging a toilet.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Donald Grant told the court that at 11.40 a.m. on April 8 officers attended the home of Robinson after receiving a complaint about a domestic dispute.

"The officers were greeted outside the house by Robinson who was carrying a hammer and he was threatening to kill someone,'' he said.

He added: "Robinson threw rocks at the Police and then ran. While Police gave chase, he threw the hammer barely missing an officer.

"When caught, Richardson said he just wanted to get locked up.'' During a search of Richardson's residence with the landlord, Police noticed that a toilet was damaged.

When asked by Senior Magistrate the Wor. Will Francis if he had anything to say Richardson replied: "I was under a lot of pressure and I had lost a good job when I went to Westgate on another matter.''
