Due to a Supreme Court error, Lois Loverne Mills and Lawrence Charles Mills were listed in the December 2 issue of The Royal Gazette as having been granted a divorce. The parties are not divorced and their names were supposed to have been stricken from the court record from which The Royal Gazette received its information. The Registrar of the Supreme Court apologises for any inconvenience caused to the parties.

A 58-year-old Pembroke man has opted for a Supreme Court trial after prosecutors amended sexual assault charges against him.

The man -- who cannot be named for legal reasons -- is now charged with sexual assault, touching a minor for a sexual purpose while in a position of trust, and touching a minor.

Yesterday Crown counsel Lesley Basden asked Magistrate Edward King to add the third charge, which is an alternative to the second before the trial began.

Mr. King explained to the man the nature of the charges and explained again that the charges are indictable and could be tried by a jury.

The man -- who is represented by lawyer Juan Wolffe -- did not have to plead.

The charges relate to alleged acts against a ten-year-old female relative between January 28 and February 12 this year.

The man was released on $1,000 bail and will return to court for mention on December 9.

BURGLAR TAKES BREAK CRM Burglar takes break A bold intruder paused to drink a cold soda while rummaging through bedroom drawers during a break-in.

The incident was one of a rash of crimes which occurred in Sandys Parish on Monday.

All five incidents -- four break-ins and one attempted break-in -- took place in the Cook's Hill, Broome Street and Crossfield Lane area of Somerset and in all cases the intruder gained access through a kitchen or bathroom window.

Detectives were called in two instances when the culprit was on the premises.

In one case, at about 9.54 p.m., a woman was in her living room when she heard a noise in her kitchen.

When she returned to the living room, she met with an intruder, who grabbed the woman's purse and ran off.

Insp. Randy Liverpool advised all residents to be extra vigilant with securing their homes and personal items and take note of strangers in the area.

The break-in took place around 5.30 a.m. and may have involved more than one person.
