Christmas Day -- a day after attacking the same victim, a court was told yesterday.

The Supreme Court also heard that Richardson, a father-of-one, threatened a man with a meat cleaver before stealing a packet of cigarettes.

Yesterday, Richardson, who is already serving a two-and-a-half year sentence for a different offence, was jailed for a further three years.

He had admitted charges of possessing an offensive weapon, unlawful assault, stealing and two charges of unlawful wounding at an earlier court hearing.

Prosecuting, Mr. Melvin Douglas said that, on December 24 last year, Richardson approached a man as he was leaving the Spinning Wheel nightclub. He told the man he "owed him'' and stabbed him in the thigh.

The next day -- Christmas Day -- Richardson saw the same man and stabbed him twice.

Mr. Douglas added that a further assault took place last May when Richardson, of Ewing Street, Paget, asked a man for some change and then produced a meat cleaver which he brandished in front of the man's face.

"All the time Richardson was searching through the man's pockets he was holding the meat cleaver against the victim's neck,'' added Mr. Douglas.

He stole a packet of cigarettes before the man managed to get away and tell Police about his ordeal. "Richardson was arrested by the Police and in an interview admitted what he had done,'' said Mr. Douglas.

For possession of the offensive weapon, Chief Justice the Hon. Mr. Justice Ward jailed Richardson for 18 months. He got nine months for the assault, six months for stealing and three years for one wounding charge -- all to run concurrently with his present jail term.

For the other charge of wounding Richardson was jailed for three years to run after his current sentence is served.
