man who had history of breaking and entering offences and sent his case to the Supreme Court.

Charles Christopher, 35, of Scott's Hill Road, Sandys pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to breaking and entering Sandys' Esso Service station and stealing thirty cartons of cigarettes worth $1,050.

Police prosecutor Sgt. John Dale said Raymond DeSilva, the owner of the service station, closed and secured the building on August 18 and left for the day.

DeSilva returned the next day and discovered someone had broken into the building and had stolen the cigarettes.

Christopher was arrested on August 22 and admitted to Police that he had committed the crime.

Magistrate the Wor. Edward King said the lower court was only allowed to impose a maximum sentence of a $1,000 fine or 12 months imprisonment.

However, he said the case required a stiffer penalty because of Christopher's past record which included numerous convictions for similar offences.
