broke and entered two separate residences was sentenced to six months imprisonment on Monday.

Damon Burgess pleaded guilty last month to the three offences which occurred over a ten day period in September.

His lawyer, Kim Wilson, asked Senior Magistrate William Francis to be merciful in sentencing her client, saying he had committed the offences because of his drug addiction.

He now wanted to seek help for his problem and was full of remorse over his actions, she added.

Prosecutor Sgt. Phil Taylor told Magistrates' Court that Burgess was not remorseful in the beginning and had made his victims relive their experiences and identify him in a Police lineup.

He said Mr. Francis should consider sending him to Supreme Court for stiffer sentencing.

Mr. Francis said the offences were serious but he would give Burgess every benefit of the doubt because of his age.

He sentenced Burgess to six months for stealing a metal cash box worth $60, that contained $190.25, from IBC offices in the Dallas Building on Park Street on September 23.

Burgess was then given a concurrent sentence of three years for breaking and entering his aunt's dwelling at Number 15 Tribe Road Number Two in Warwick.

And Mr. Francis gave him two years of probation, consecutive to the prison sentences plus any necessary treatment or counselling he might require, for the charge of breaking and entering an apartment at Landfall Restaurant in Hamilton Parish on September 24.
