Clifton Anderson nearly missed the rear of an unmarked Police car which was forced to brake sharply in rush hour traffic on January 7, prosecutor Sgt.

Donald Grant told Magistrate Edward King.

The driver braked sharply because the cars in front had slowed to allow another to negotiate a turn on North Shore Road in Hamilton Parish, Sgt. Grant said.

Anderson, 30, of Mullet Bay Road, rode up beside the car and began to shout at the Police Sergeant in an unmarked car: "F**k you, f**k you. I'll f**king kill you right here!'' Sgt. Grant said Anderson continued to shout verbal abuse at the Policeman even when the officer tried to move the cycle from the centre of the road.

Anderson pushed the officer twice and shouted: "Get your hands off my f**king bike. I'll kill you.'' The shouting continued and Anderson began to brandish his helmet, telling the officer he would "split his head open''.

Anderson was arrested and taken to St. George's Police Station where he apologised, but would not admit he was wrong.

Anderson, who admitted assaulting the Police officer and using offensive words, had a string of similar offences dating back to 1983, the court was told.

But Anderson told Mr. King: "I never hit him, we just got into an argument.'' Mr. King ordered Anderson to pay $450 for assault offence and $300 for using offensive words.
