Prosecutor, Mr. Peter DeJulio told the Supreme Court that Charles Roger Richardson pulled a gun and fired "four, five, six shots'' hitting Mr. Ian Jason Simmons four times.

A bullet also hit Mr. Jermaine Lovell in his hand, Mr. DeJulio told the court.

He was speaking at the start of the trial into an alleged shooting incident at the Spinning Wheel club, on Court Street in October last year.

Richardson, 24, of Harrington Sound Road, Smith's Parish, denies charges of attempted murder, wounding with intent, unlawful wounding, using a firearm and possession of a prohibited weapon.

Yesterday, Mr. DeJulio said on October 29 last year Mr. Simmons, who also uses the name DeSilva, was at the Spinning Wheel for a few drinks with some friends. Richardson was at the bar at the same time.

"The two of them knew each other from previous dealings and there were some harsh words spoken between them that evening as a result of some things that may or may not have happened before,'' said Mr. DeJulio.

He said the two had a "little dispute'' in the bar and Richardson made some accusations against Simmons.

"At some point during the evening Simmons and some friends were at one end of the bar and Richardson and some of his friends were at the other end of the bar.'' Mr. DeJulio said some violence started and a light fixture was broken.

"Shortly afterwards, Richardson pulled a gun from his waistband, pointed it at Mr. Simmons and fired altogether four, five, six times.

"Richardson pointed this gun at the victim and shot him. He ended up with four gun shot wounds. Lovell was also shot, in the hand,'' said Mr. DeJulio.

Mr. Simmons, of Southcourt Avenue, Paget, needed surgery for the wounds.

After the shooting, said Mr. DeJulio, Richardson fled from the club, got rid of his jacket and went home. He was arrested a short time later although the Police did not recover a gun.

Richardson is represented by Mr. Mark Pettingill and the trial continues today before Puisne Judge, the Hon. Mr. Justice Meerabux.
