And last night Police were on the trail of the two villains who robbed the Hitching Post at around 8.45 p.m. No-one was reported to have been injured during the incident.

A Police spokesman said officers were looking for a six-foot tall, slimly built, light skinned man and a five-foot, ten-inch tall, slimly built man who was wearing a blue rain suit, a red mask and matching gloves and a white helmet.

The Royal Gazette understands there were just two female staff working in the store at the time of the robbery.

It is not known how many shoppers were in the store when the robbers entered.

And it was later alleged that the cashier was hit before being ordered to open the till.

When she did, one man grabbed the money and they both fled the scene on a Yamaha DT motor cycle they had waiting outside.

The store was closed immediately after the burglary and Police officers guarded the entrance and turned bystanders and late night shoppers away.

The Hitching Post is owned by businessman Frank Arnold. Mr. Arnold left the Island early yesterday and could not be reached for comment.
