Government has lobbied sixteen different airlines in its bid to increase flights to the Island.

At a recent conference held in Holland, Transport Minister Dr. Ewart Brown and a delegation of civil servants made presentations to potential carriers to Bermuda.

And reporting to the House of Assembly on Friday night, Dr. Brown said some of the airlines expressed a keen interest in Bermuda and asked for more information on the Island.

The Routes conference, held in Amsterdam in September, involved representatives from 115 airlines, 250 airports and hundreds of other delegates.

The Minister also commented on recent meetings with US Government transport officials, which he said he considered the highlight of his term so far.

Meanwhile, a Hamilton take-out owner has won a contract to operate two food concessions at the airport.

Wendell Brown, who operates the Sung Sing Take-out on Victoria Street, will now run two food bars in the US Departures Lounge at the airport.

Dr. Brown said a ten year lease would be brought to the House of Assembly in the near future.

He said The Cahow Ltd would run a buffet-style food court featuring Bermudian, Chinese, European and American dishes, and a self service snack bar.

The operation is due to open in May 2001.
