The members of the Opposition don't associate this party with first class anything.'' UBP backbencher Patricia Gordon-Pamplin said the Government were creating a level of elitism by buying oversize cars.

The PLP's Delaey Robinson said the level of debate was descending to a new low with the Opposition stretching discussion about small insignificant things on for weeks.

And he said the PLP had never questioned every Government trip abroad when they had been in power.

His colleague Randy Horton said: "Do they want the Minister of Transport driving a Volkswagon or the Minister of Tourism hitching a ride on the Oleander to New Jersey?'' Telecommunications Minister Renee Webb said the UBP were angry Government was ordering from a black-owned business, Continental Motors.

She said the UBP Government had dealt with HWP which was linked with one of their Cabinet Ministers, John Irving Pearman, and Ford Motors which was owned by the Gibbons Company.

However Shadow Home Affairs Minister Michael Dunkley pointed out that Post Office vans had been Peugeots.
