spend next Friday's House of Assembly session praising the Government.

She was joined by backbencher Reginald Burrows who called on The Royal Gazette to take one issue and praise the Government on the good things it has done in 18 months of power.

Ms Webb said United Bermuda Party members operated with "prejudice'' toward the Progressive Labour Party Government and were poisoned by "envy and distrust''.

Addressing Opposition complaints that Government did not answer questions fully, Ms Webb said: "It's all this personal stuff and nothing substantive.

And when we do turn around and answer they feel that we are lying.

Mr. Burrows started by saying he sympathised with the UBP having been in the Opposition for most of the PLP's history.

"I have some empathy for them, Mr. Speaker, just as you served in Opposition for many years, I did too,'' he said. "But I would like to take Ms Webb's suggestion a bit further.

"I'd like to see The Royal Gazette in it's editorials and headlines to have a praise the Government day,'' he added.

Turning to the UBP, Mr. Burrows said they should not "nitpick'' at Government initiatives.

He even suggested that rather than talk about oversize cars or expensive trips, the UBP should "press Government on why we haven't applied housing or attacked drugs''.

Opposition Leader Pamela Gordon said some Ministers had been obstructive in providing answers, but some were not.

Ms Webb, she said, was "in the minority'' in providing prompt and clear responses.

Dramatically slamming down her watch, Ms Gordon added: "All of a sudden they say `you don't like us because we're black'. The fact is we have to ask legitimate questions. We have a responsibility to hold the Government accountable.

"We have to get away from this race, race, race, race, and deal with some issues,'' she continued. "When we find out what Government has committed us to in the annex (to the OECD) and when we know and find out and it is a positive thing, I will be the first one on my feet (to applaud).''
