What followed was a furious rant at The Royal Gazette and in particular recent comments made in the paper's recent editorials.

Shadow Tourism Minister David Allen got the ball rolling with a personal attack on editor David L. White.

With arms flailing Mr. Allen said: "Last week there was a statement in the editorial which said that members of the opposition couldn't hold down a decent job.

"I think that was insulting not only to members of the opposition but also to the 46.4 percent of the Bermudian electorate who voted for us. It also insulted this honourable chamber.

"It was a low blow and so close to outrageous libel.

"It's a case of making people lame and then criticising the way they walk.

When I look around at the members on this side I see they are all upstanding, law-abiding members of the community and if they haven't flourished as much in the private sector that's because of the upstanding stance they have taken against the establishment of this country who are well represented on the Board of Directors of The Royal Gazette .'' The PLP's Dr. Ewart Brown then got in on the act, claiming that Mr. White had in recent weeks thrown "a mountain of disrespect on the House and everyone in politics.''
