My brother, `The big pest'
Lots of kids complain about their brothers, but nobody - I mean nobody - has a brother like mine.
It all started one Saturday in my back yard. I was playing with my Lego. I had built a big Tower. Then my brother came along. Oh! I forgot to tell you what his name is. It's Jamel. But anyway, he came along and knocked it down. Then I started to fight him. So my mother came out and said I should know better, because he is older than I, and that I should respect my elders.
When supper-time came, I was sitting at the dinner table with my parents and the little pest. Why does he have to shoot off his mouth all of the time? He told mom and dad that I have a crush on someone and that I won't tell them. In trouble again.
While we were getting our bath that same night, he told mom that I had put soap in his eyes and that I would not give him the washcloth to wipe it out.
"In trouble again.'' I said to myself.
After our baths and in our beds, I started to yawn because I was tired. Well, Jamel called mom and dad in our bedroom because I was making too much noise.
And they both said that I was grounded for a week and to go to sleep.
"That rhymes'' my brother said. "Like wow!'' I said to myself. If I were to say it aloud, I guarantee mom and dad will be in the door again.
The next day, we all had to go to church because it was Sunday. While in church, we had to pray and sing. When it was time to pray, Jamel whispered to dad and mom that I wasn't praying. Then dad and mom said that I was grounded for a week and a half.
That same night, in mom and dad's room, I tried to explain that I didn't do anything that Jamel said to my parents. I said I fought him yesterday because he had knocked down my Tower that I built and that I do have a crush on someone. Really, I was going to tell them anyway. When we got our baths yesterday, I didn't put any soap in his eyes. While in bed that same night, I was only yawning `Oh!'' "The last thing of all, I did pray in church today.'' I said to my parents.
Surprisingly, they understood. Then my stupid brother came in. Mom and dad pointed out to me that the grounding that they gave me would be put on my brother's time.
"Well,'' I said to myself, "sure showed him a lesson.'' STALEINA FRANKS Age 11, Purvis Primary.
