of a whale, it was revealed yesterday.
The Aquariums' James Conyers said the blob that turned up on the shoreline at Stonington Beach Hotel a few days ago appeared to be part of a decomposing whale.
"It smelled, looked and was the texture of decomposed whale blubber,'' Mr.
Conyers said.
He said he took samples of the blob which will be tested to verify his opinion.
"We don't know for sure if it was whale blubber.'' he added.
Recently a decomposed whale was found in Devonshire Bay and Mr. Conyers said the blob could be from that whale.
"Large chunks of that whale was missing,'' he said. "It (the blob) could be part of it.'' Over the years there have been several instances where mysterious blobs have washed up on local shores.
