The pair were admitted to the Bermuda Bar during a ceremony at Supreme Court.

Puisne Judge, the Hon. Mr. Justice Meerabux asked them to bring their experience into their new positions but modify it to the "Bermudian environment''.

Mr. Justice Meerabux said this applied to the media experience Mr. Rochester gained while working as a ZBM radio broadcaster and the international experience Mr. Ludden gained while working in England.

Mr. Rochester, a Bermudian, was educated at the Central School and worked as a printer with Bermuda Press and Island Press before going to Kennington College in London, England, where he sat his O-level exams. He then returned to Bermuda and worked with ZBM radio as a broadcaster before going to the London School of Economics where he received his diploma in International and Comparative Politics.

He then completed a Bachelor of Law degree at the University of London before joining Middle Temple. Then, in 1993, Mr. Rochester took an intensive course at the Norman Manley Law School in Jamaica before being called to the Bar of Jamaica in 1995. Afterwards he returned to Bermuda and joined the Attorney General's Chambers.

Mr. Ludden was born in Cambridge, England, and then moved to Northern Ireland where he attended Limovady Grammar School. He then went to the University of Liverpool where he completed an Honours Degree in Law.

He went to London firm Sinclair Roche where he gained international experience before coming to Bermuda and joining M.L.H. Quin & Co.

Mr. Rochester thanked his family, friends and neighbours for their "ardent prayers and support'' while he "burnt the midnight oil''. He also thanked his school teachers and Mr. Arnold Francis and his wife who he called "a tower of spiritual strength much stronger than I''.

Mr. Ludden said he was looking forward to serving the Bermuda Bar and thanked his mother and his father for their support.
