New homes to go on market

And another 24 will be sold directly to the Bermuda Housing Corporation to be used as rental units.

Last night members from both sides of the House Assembly supported the move to ease the Island's housing shortage.

And Minister of Development and Government Services Terry Lister said the expected $6 million in revenue from the sale would be crucial to the planned $12 million infrastructure development in South Side.

Mr. Lister also said a list of 290 potential buyers had already been created for the properties.

But he noted the lots would only be sold to first-time owners who intended to live in the homes.

UBP MP Tim Smith supported the "fast track resolution'' which allowed for the rapid approval of the sale initiative.
