industry has underscored the Island's prominence as a leading market.

The Bermuda Insurance Survey, a five-month long joint project of The Bermudian Magazine and chartered accountants Deloitte & Touche, is published in this month's Focus on Business section of the The Bermudian and will be available at this month's RIMS Conference in San Francisco.

The survey shows that 38 participating firms have a total of $41.5 billion in total assets, $16.4 billion in capital and surplus and premiums earned of $10 billion.

The survey compares the companies' financial information and features comment on market trends by industry leaders.

Bermudian publisher Mr. Kevin Stevenson said: "This was an ambitious project, but one we feel will be of enormous interest to our readers in the market and abroad. It is the first survey of its kind and we hope to continue it in the future.'' Deloitte & Touche partner Mr. David Mutch said: "Some companies were prepared to entrust us with very current financial information and its presentation.

That's a measure of the confidence and support these companies felt for the project.'' The 68-page report catalogues the phenomenal success of Bermuda-based insurers, including property catastrophe reinsurers, the excess liability sector, financial and industry-specific reinsurers.

Focus on Business is a quarterly section inside The Bermudian magazine and is also reprinted for sale as a separate publication.
