'em, and then for the most part we break 'em. After all, there's always next year.

But what about the Country's great and good? What have they set their sights on as personal targets in 1993? Here's a selection of community figures and their resolutions: Premier, the Hon. Sir John Swan: "To use the power of positive thinking in helping people to do what's in their best interests and to help to make the Island a better place for everybody.'' The Anglican Bishop of Bermuda, the Rt. Rev. William Down: "I shall do my best to be a faithful witness to Jesus Christ. And I want to do better on Riddell's Bay golf course.'' Power 95 DJ Mr. Glen (Smooth Operator) Blakeney: "To be 200 percent more humble, though I consider myself humble already. And to be a little more responsive to my public with regard to the dissemination of information about the music industry and issues that affect people generally.'' Greeter of rush-hour motorists Mr. Johnny Barnes: "I'm going to endeavour to live closer to the Lord and let my little light shine so that others will see it and accept Christ as their personal Saviour. I'm not going to allow anyone to take my happiness from me -- I just want to share it with others.'' Chair of the Women's Advisory Council Mrs. Kim Young: "To give up smoking completely -- I'm always giving it up. And to continue to see if we can continue to fight against the violence against women.'' Principal of St. George's Secondary School Mr. Dale Butler: "I resolve not to make New Year's resolutions. I don't have them because I know I'm going to break them.'' Director of tourism Mr. Gary Phillips: "To find some way of communicating the importance of customer relations.'' Director of Agape House hospice Mrs. Hilary Soares: "To put in a bereavement programme for orphaned children. And to educate people a little bit more that death is a normal process.'' Police spokeswoman Sgt. Andrea Browne: "I really don't have any. I just take the year as it comes.'' BIU president Mr. Ottiwell Simmons: "I think resolutions are for people who have a bad habit that they've got to break. I don't think I have any bad habits.'' Top cricketer Mr. Wendell Smith: "To lose 20 pounds and to get myself in tip-top shape.'' Magistrate the Wor. Cheryl Ann Mapp: "To be healthier.''
