Senior Magistrate Archie Warner lost patience with his continued contempt for the law.

And Terranz Smith, of Market Lane, Hamilton Parish was remanded in custody after being accused of two breaking and entering offences.

He pleaded not guilty to breaking and entering two Pembroke homes on October 1, 2000 and January 16 this year and faces a trial on March 29.

The court then heard that he had been arrested for not paying outstanding fines for a forgery conviction dating from 1998, and he had not made a September court date to answer a driving while disqualified charge.

Mr. Warner pointed out that it was his fourth such offence - two within two months of each other -- and he still had outstanding fines for three traffic offences as well as the forgery.

He was ordered to pay $3,550 or face a 400-day jail term.

Smith, 32, had pleaded for a suspended sentence but Mr. Warner had told him: "When you are fined you don't pay unless forced into it by being arrested.'' Smith hit back: "The channels have not been exhausted.'' Mr. Warner said: "Disqualification is no penalty. It's clear you have no respect for the law.''
