Robin Judah, of Bluck Point Road, drove down Bermudiana Road on May 6 and then turned onto Front Street where he parked.

When Police challenged him about the manoeuvre he said: "I saw a parking space and didn't want to miss out.'' And when they asked him how long he had been driving in Bermuda, he replied: "25 years, sonny.'' Asked if he knew Bermudiana Road was a one-way street, Judah said: "I knew it but I just didn't want to travel all the way around and miss the parking space.'' Judah, 69, apologised to Senior Magistrate Archibald Warner, and said: "I was late for a dinner date and I noticed when I came into Hamilton all the parking spaces were full.

"I would like to say I don't make a habit of this. I have been driving in Bermuda since 1972 and my only offence has been a parking ticket.''
