with the launch of the Bermuda Civil Service's first newsletter.

Called Inside Out, the quarterly newsletter's first edition came out in late March and is available to the general public.

"It's long overdue, really,'' said public affairs officer Beverly Morfitt, who is one of five members on the newsletter's editorial team.

"We believe we are providing a vehicle for getting internal information out.

There's a lot of stuff going on that everybody should know about.'' She said that the idea to start a newsletter had been around for five or six years but it never came to fruition because of manpower limitations.

New impetus was given to the project, she said, when Jennifer Smith took office as Premier.

The first edition revealed that General Orders, the rule book for civil servants, will soon be replaced by a new document The Code of Conduct and Conditions of Employment.

It also announces new appointments, retirements and promotions, a descirption of the Central Policy Unit and a list of the members of the Civil Service Executive. The newsletter can be accessed online at www.insideout.bdagov.bm.
