received an earful from a Magistrate.

Samantha Hall, 32, of Cameron Close, Smith's Parish, pleaded guilty in Magistrates' Court to driving while impaired on June 25.

Police prosecutor Sgt. Anthony Mouchette told the court that Hall had been involved in a two-vehicle road accident just east of the Spar Lane junction in Sandys Parish.

Police officers attended the scene of the accident, around 7.30 p.m., where Hall had been driving her auxiliary cycle along Cockburn Road toward Hamilton.

But as she was about to turn at a right-hand bend, she swerved into the other lane and collided with an oncoming car.

Sgt. Mouchette said Hall broke her wrist and received numerous cuts and wounds.

Police officers smelled alcohol on her breathe and asked her if she had been drinking, he added.

Hall told the officers: "Yes, I just had a few beers on board the boat.'' It was discovered that Hall had at least 143 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood.

Magistrate Cheryl-Ann Mapp ordered Hall to pay a $600 fine and disqualified her from driving all motor vehicles for one year.
