The Warwick man was painting the roof of a home on White Sands Road in Paget when the accident occurred at around 2 p.m.
A Police spokeswoman said the man was painting the roof's gutter when it broke. He apparently slipped on the wet paint and fell some 25 to 30 feet to the ground -- where he landed on his feet.
The man remained conscious and was able to call out to a neighbour for help.
A hospital spokeswoman said the man was in serious but stable condition and had been transferred to the intensive care unit.
