Pay award announced

Government's 1,700 white collar workers will get three percent -- which is slightly higher than the current inflation level of 2.8 percent.

The Royal Gazette on Tuesday.

Government's 1,700 white collar workers will get three percent -- which is slightly higher than the current inflation level of 2.8 percent.

A joint statement from Government and the Bermuda Public Services Association said: "It is little changed from the previous agreement, except that it is for a period of one year instead of the usual two, pending the result of the review of public services which is underway.'' The raise is retroactive to October 1. Last year the union won a 2.98 percent pay award.

BPSA president Betty Christopher said: "It is an above inflation deal and we will have to take it back to the table next year.''
